Light from sound ?

FACT: IF YOU COLLAPSE AN UNDERWATER BUBBLE WITH SOUND WAVES, IT PRODUCES LIGHT, NOBODY EXACTLY KNOWS WHY!
We all know that energy can be transformed from one form to another. That's what we all learned at school. Those of you who are really reading this for curiosity,  chances are, that you were also curious at school to know about the various conversions of energy from one form to another.
If that is the case, then this article is a bonanza of sorts for you!
You must have thought whether sound energy can be converted to light directly (If you did'nt think about it then, give it a thought now :P  ).

Well, it seems sound energy CAN be directly converted to light energy.
Get a glass of water( make sure there are small air bubbles in it) , impose on it some sound waves, and voila! physics rewards  you by light energy (only for a few picoseconds though ).
This phenomenon of generating light energy from sound energy is called "SONOLUMINESENCE"

Sonoluminescence: The phenomenon in which acoustic energy is concentrated into collapsing bubbles that emit picosecond pulses of broadband light.

Calculations indicate that peak temperatures inside the bubbles may exceed 12 million K, that peak pressures may reach 100 million atmospheres, could initiate D-D fusion.

Harnessing the high energy release would lead to the development of
revolutionary propulsion and power systems
